On January 3, 2012, Alan Schonfeld, Corinne Bertsche, and Cecilia Preciado were each certified by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as Certified Specialists in Legal Malpractice Law. There are currently only 72 State Bar Certified Specialists in Legal Malpractice Law statewide out of over 175,000 active California attorneys.
On November 18, 2011, a jury in San Bernardino Superior Court, Rancho Cucamonga Division, rendered a defense verdict of no negligence in a legal malpractice case tried by Alan Schonfeld. The jury deliberated 2.5 hours before reaching its verdict.
After almost 900 nominations, Alan Schonfeld has been voted by his peers as one of ten Finalists in the “Insurance” Practice Section in the San Diego Daily Transcript Top Lawyer Competition.
After Alan Schonfeld took his deposition, the plaintiff and his attorney agreed to drop their legal malpratice case and instead pay Mr. Schonfeld’s client the majority of the attorney’s fees and costs he was owed. San Diego Superior Case.
Cecilia Preciado obtained a judgment of non-suit following plaintiff’s opening statement in a legal malpractice action filed in San Diego Superior Court.
Alan Schonfeld has been selected by his peers as a 2011 San Diego Super Lawyer. Alan was also honored as a San Diego Super Lawyer in 2010 and 2009.
SBP obtained a judgment of dismissal for its client after the Court sustained its demurrer without leave to amend. Riverside County Superior Court, Indio Branch.
Corinne Bertsche prevailed on an anti-slapp motion on the ground that the underlying dismissal did not constitute a favorable termination. The trial court’s ruling was upheld on appeal. All of the attorney’s fees and costs incurred were awarded to the client. A final judgment in the amount of $59,469 was enetered in her client’s favor.
The firm obtained a $256,579 judgment for their clients in an employment/ partnership dissolution trial. San Diego Superior Court.
Plaintiff and his counsel agreed to dismiss an Orange County legal malpractice action after receiving a detailed letter from Alan Schonfeld analyzing why the case had no merit. No discovery was conducted and no money was paid. Plaintiff simply filed the dismissal.
